Overview

Aegis Crown is currently the only one of the five companies offering interstellar armed escort.

It operates only four interstellar escort vessels, although additional ships are planned. People have nicknamed them the Pirate Killers.

The Pirate Killers

These are not converted civilian ships. They are purpose-built licensed private escort vessels.

Doctrine

They remain inferior to frontline KAVOE warships by design and regulation. Aegis Crown doctrine prohibits initiating offensive operations unrelated to protection of the contracted client.

Leviathan Program

ACPS is developing an experimental Leviathan stunning system. The goal is not extermination. Researchers want to produce a directed system capable of temporarily disrupting a Leviathan's sensory or neuromuscular activity long enough for a civilian vessel to escape.

A parallel program is developing a non-destructive pirate-vessel disabling system intended to disrupt propulsion or electrical systems without destroying the vessel. Neither technology is operational yet.

Limitation

There are only four Pirate Killers. Aegis Crown therefore cannot provide routine interstellar escort. Contracts are normally restricted to extremely valuable cargo, dangerous expeditions, high-risk passenger movements or destinations with documented threat activity.

Record

Aegis Crown has lost personnel and at least one predecessor vessel during a Leviathan encounter, which is one reason it is investing in nonlethal Leviathan countermeasures.
