Her legacy extends centuries beyond her known period of activity.
She resists simple description. Her actions produced an enormous human death toll — nearly one billion people killed. At the same time, later discoveries about extraterrestrial civilizations caused historians to reconsider aspects of the world in which she acted. That reconsideration does not erase the casualties. It complicates the question of who she was and why she did what she did.

The World Before Sharra

The name Falling Tears of Sharra became the historical signature of the event. The exact origin of the phrase is not conclusively established in the surviving record; it may have emerged from the visual image of the asteroids descending through the atmosphere, from the later seventy-day mourning tradition, or from both. The Physics of the Impossible
Sharra demonstrated practical manipulation of spacetime and gravitation decades before humanity developed its mature metric-engineering technologies. At an accessible level: gravity is not merely a pull between masses — it is the curvature of spacetime itself. Gravitational lensing is the bending of light and trajectory by that curvature. Metric manipulation is the deliberate engineering of that curvature.

The surviving nations recognized that conventional military strength had been insufficient against technology of this scale. The response increasingly emphasized knowledge. Humanity needed to understand gravity, spacetime, advanced physics, extraterrestrial technology, planetary defense, and survival beyond Earth.
In the 2060s, the Lurran Initiative emerged from this aftermath — a coordinated effort to rebuild, unify, and reach outward. The Initiative ultimately developed into the Lurran Consortium, the interstellar civilization at the heart of the Zul'Elkoen universe.
The Falling Tears was not the single cause of every later institution. But it was a foundational historical catalyst — the moment after which humanity's trajectory bent outward.

In the memoir known as Falling Tears, Joshua Heppleton records the death of his son Brian, buried beneath an oak tree in Pennsylvania with a toy astronaut beside him — and the long walk with his wife Karen and surviving son Anders toward a refugee center called Station 17.
Later debates over Sharra's motives do not erase the people killed by her actions. They never can.

From Terror to Worship
Centuries after the Falling Tears, Sharra's cultural impact has not disappeared. Some people belong to a religious movement that worships Sharra Zul'Elkoen — among them the Covenant of the Twenty-Two Tears, one of humanity's larger faiths. This archive records the existence of that worship and the controversy surrounding it. It does not invent doctrine that the sources do not provide.
Over centuries, Sharra was transformed from a historical person into a religious and cultural symbol. Her name persisted. Her image shifted — from the woman who broke the sky to a guardian credited, by her followers, with saving humanity from something worse.
The skull-throne imagery reflects that mythologization — the frightening, destructive figure venerated precisely because of the scale of what she did. It is iconography, not a literal historical scene. The historical Sharra of 2057 and the worshipped Sharra of later centuries are not the same object, even if they share a name.
The worship remains controversial. Many outside the faith regard it as a personality cult built around a mass murderer. Followers counter that they do not celebrate the catastrophe but the willingness of one person to bear eternal condemnation. This archive does not declare either reading correct.
