AICE PHYSICS VOCABULARY ACADEMY
Master 200 Essential Physics Terms Through Interactive Challenges.
Physics has its own language. Understanding that language is essential for solving problems, interpreting scientific information, and succeeding in examinations. Practice 200 essential physics terms through interactive flashcards, vocabulary challenges, and timed games.
NEW: 100 MORE PHYSICS TERMS!
Expand your knowledge with 100 additional vocabulary terms covering experimental physics, motion, materials, waves, electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics.
A bright ascending chime plays for a correct answer, a lower two-note tone for an incorrect one, and a fanfare when a challenge ends. Adjust the volume or switch sound off at any time — nothing plays until you start a game.
Choose a Training Mode
Your vocabulary pack, category and difficulty settings below apply to every mode.
Study Flashcards
Flip a card to reveal the definition, mark what you know, and send the rest back into rotation. No scoring, no pressure.
Multiple-Choice Challenge
Read a physics term and choose the right definition from four plausible options. Streaks earn bonus points.
Reverse Definition Challenge
Read a definition and identify the matching term. The same scoring, feedback and sounds, tested the other way round.
Timed Challenge
Race the countdown across 60, 120, 180 or 300 seconds. Wrong answers cost you nothing but time.
Session Setup
Choose a category, a difficulty, and how long you want to train.
VOCABULARY PACK
Complete Physics Vocabulary — 200 Terms Available. Every mode draws from the selected pack, and switching packs never resets your progress or sound settings.

ACADEMY NOTES
Why Scientific Vocabulary Matters
Physics rewards precision. A single word can decide whether an answer scores full marks or none, and the terms below carry meaning that everyday language does not. Learning them deliberately — through retrieval rather than re-reading — is one of the most efficient ways to raise a physics grade.
Command words and scientific terminology
Examination questions begin with command words — state, define, describe, explain, calculate, suggest. Each one asks for a different depth of answer, and the vocabulary inside the question tells you what is being measured. Knowing the terms means you answer the question that was actually asked.
Distinguishing similar physics concepts
Physics pairs look alike but behave differently: distance and displacement, speed and velocity, accuracy and precision, elastic and plastic deformation, stress and strain, e.m.f. and potential difference. Vocabulary practice forces you to separate them before an exam does.
Recognizing quantities and units
A measurement is meaningless without its unit, and a derived unit usually reveals the physics behind it — N m⁻² for stress, J s for the Planck constant, A s for charge. Recognizing the quantity from its unit is often the fastest route into a calculation.
Applying vocabulary to calculations
Choosing the right equation starts with naming the quantity you have and the quantity you need: resistivity needs resistivity, not resistance; half-life needs the decay constant. Precise vocabulary turns a word problem into algebra.
Active recall improves memory
Retrieving an answer from memory strengthens it far more than re-reading notes. Flashcards, multiple-choice questions and timed runs are all forms of active recall, and the terms you get wrong are exactly the ones that deserve another pass — which is what Review Missed Terms is for.
