THE PHYSICIST
A Physics Foundation
Alongside his biology degree, Teacher Steven U. Allen completed coursework in physics with calculus, classical mechanics, modern physics, and thermodynamics — the same physics he is now certified by the State of Florida to teach at the secondary level, Grades 6–12. That formal physics training is why propulsion, energy, and mechanics in the Zul'Elkoen Universe are treated as constrained systems rather than as unlimited magic dressed up as technology.
It is also why he has completed Cambridge International professional development in AICE Physics — advanced coursework in the same subject he builds directly into the fiction's engineering and propulsion systems.
THE ASTRONOMER
Astronomy and the Galaxy Map
His coursework in solar system astronomy, stellar astronomy, and observational astronomy — including laboratory work identifying real celestial objects — informs the scale and structure of the Zul'Elkoen Universe's star systems. That is part of why the Galaxy Map treats distance, travel time, and star classification as real constraints on the story rather than as a decorative backdrop.
THE MATHEMATICIAN
Mathematics Behind the Calculators
Coursework spanning calculus, multivariable calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and introductory programming gives Teacher Steven U. Allen the mathematical foundation behind the site's own working science tools — from kinematics and Doppler shift to linear systems and statistical distributions. These Serious Calculators are built to the same standard of rigor as the classroom material he has taught.
THE WORLDBUILDING QUESTION
What Else Would Have to Be True?
The recurring worldbuilding habit across the Zul'Elkoen Universe is a scientist's question: if this technology or organism existed, what else would have to be true for it to work? That question — asked by someone trained across biology, public health, physics, and astronomy — is the throughline connecting a starship engine, an alien immune system, and a disease outbreak inside the same fictional universe.
