Vessel Propulsion Registry

Proposed working VP ratings for human vessels are based on established mission roles; they become canon only when approved. Specific assignments remain provisional in Rev 0.1. Named examples flagged for manufacturer/operator-specific rating include Peregrine priority vessels and Atlas megafreighters.

Every established biological spacefaring species receives at least a freighter, heavy warship, fighter, and civilian transport concept for development. These names are functional placeholders unless a source already establishes a class. Friendly-species civilian vessels are intentionally omitted from the public comparison chart, per current project direction. Ratings are proposals where canon does not provide observed performance.

• NO DATA is preferable to inventing a rating when observed motion is insufficient; this specifically applies to Nosk vessels at present.
• Observed ratings should use a plus sign when only a lower bound is known (example: Observed VP-9+).
• Functional vessel categories introduced here are development placeholders unless already named in source material.
• Friendly-species civilian vessels may exist in canon even when deliberately omitted from the public comparison chart.
• Alien propulsion technology need not be Gorbillian-derived. VPPS classifies performance, not mechanism.

Mu, Thule, and Ys are human Gorbillian engineering names; they are not automatically applied to alien propulsion technologies. When analysts observe an alien vessel producing route compression that resembles a known Gorbillian setting, reports may describe the observation as Mu-equivalent, Thule-equivalent, or Ys-equivalent performance — describing the measured transportation result, not claiming the alien vessel uses a Gorbillian Modulator or the same mechanism.

Approved canon: Velkth propulsion technology is unknown. No VPPS rating, engine classification, or Gorbillian-equivalent transit rating is assigned to Velkth vessels.

Velkth ships have demonstrated an unusual operational pattern: they simply appear where they are expected to be, precisely when they are expected. They are never observed arriving late. Available observations do not establish the mechanism that produces this behavior.

Two major hypotheses are retained for scientific and intelligence discussion, but neither is established canon as the actual mechanism:

• The Velkth have mastered higher-spatial transit beyond the human Ys setting.
• Large-scale quantum superposition technology, in which a vessel may occupy — or remain physically available to — multiple spatial locations until a particular position becomes observationally relevant.

• Confirm the formal spelling: 'Gorbillian Modeulator' versus the older source terms 'Gorbillian Modulator' / 'Gorbillian Metric Generator.'
• Establish the exact physics and efficiency limits of inertial-force transfer into the higher spatial dimension.
• Determine whether VP thresholds measure acceleration before or after any metric-path geometric advantage; current proposal treats VP as physical propulsive acceleration of the vessel.
• Create formal class names for alien freighters, warships, fighters, and civilian vessels instead of generic functional labels.
• Audit the complete species registry before finalizing the alien chart so no created spacefaring species is omitted.
• Assign manufacturer/operator-specific ratings to human commercial ships such as Peregrine priority vessels and Atlas megafreighters.
• Develop route-performance examples (Sol–Proxima, Sol–Neptune, etc.) once metric-path compression/geometry parameters are numerically established.
