Kraken (LH) vessels are no longer categorized as Fleet Combat Vessels. They are assigned to the future KAVOE Ecological Response Command (KERC), whose doctrine, organization, and vessel specifications are published separately.
2. Weapons Integration
Fleet doctrine recognizes the following standardized weapon families. Specialized Leviathan-response systems are reserved for KERC.
APPENDIX A — TM-34-KFO
KAVOE Fleet Ordnance Standard
TM-34-KFO establishes standardized weapon designations and the preferred armament mix for each KAVOE ship class. This is a working doctrine and may be expanded in future revisions.
REVISION 8.2 — STRATEGIC LIFT & DREADNOUGHT CARRIER INTEGRATION
Mission
KAVOE's dedicated strategic troop carrier and military transport vessel. Designed to move one complete Talion as an intact operational formation, together with its command element, equipment, vehicles, KEAF systems, supplies, medical support, and the deployment craft needed to place that force into the field.
Capacity & Layout
The Argonaut is larger than any other KAVOE vessel class. Maximum internal space is the governing design priority — troop habitation, vehicle and equipment decks, cargo storage, medical facilities, mess and recreation areas, training spaces, command-and-control facilities, maintenance areas, and extensive deployment bays.
Deployment Doctrine
Not a planetary landing ship. It remains in space and deploys personnel and equipment through embarked landing craft, atmospheric transports, shuttles, and other appropriate vehicles.
Protection
Exceptionally heavy armor — a single hull carries an unusually large concentration of KAVOE personnel and equipment. Survivability takes precedence over maneuverability and offensive firepower.
Escort Doctrine
Not intended to operate unescorted. Cerberus-class fleet-defense escorts are natural close-protection vessels, while additional KAVOE combat classes secure the surrounding battlespace according to threat conditions.
Armament
Offensive armament is deliberately minimal. Recessed directed-energy defensive systems provide immediate protection against approaching threats. The class carries no standard heavy thorium-cannon battery and no standard offensive missile battery.
Emergency Evacuation
Conventional escape-pod capacity is provided for one-half of the vessel's maximum personnel load. Additional survivability is met through armored internal protection and other emergency systems established by KAVOE evacuation doctrine.
Mission
KAVOE's dreadnought carrier and primary large-scale aerospace deployment platform — a mobile military airbase capable of transporting, maintaining, launching, recovering, repairing, rearming, and commanding large formations of combat spacecraft.
Standard Aerospace Complement
Each Tartarus carries 24 combat squadrons. Auxiliary rescue craft, shuttles, utility craft, transports, maintenance vehicles, and similar support craft are carried separately and do not count toward the 24-squadron complement.
Ship-Mounted Armament
Intentionally sparse relative to its size: one forward RFG-20 Thorium Rapid Fire Gun, one aft RFG-20 Thorium Rapid Fire Gun, and one topside MM-50 Myrmidon missile launcher (retained for mission flexibility; may employ standard or mission-modified Myrmidon payloads as authorized).
Protection & Escort Doctrine
Very heavy armor and extensive defensive systems, but its embarked aerospace force is its principal offensive capability. Normally operates as the centerpiece of an escorted formation rather than seeking direct capital-ship engagements.
Deep-Space Operations
Considered the most well-rounded KAVOE vessel for long-term voyages into deep space — its stores, maintenance capability, embarked spacecraft, medical and command infrastructure, armor, and self-contained support systems allow it to remain operational far from established Consortium bases.
Danger-Expected Exploration
May enter distant or poorly explored systems when intelligence indicates mysterious territory may contain significant danger — a preferred choice when KAVOE expects hostile civilizations, dangerous astronomical phenomena, unknown spacecraft, Leviathan activity, or other unidentified threats.
Relationship to Jotunn Doctrine
Does not replace the Jotunn as KAVOE's dedicated long-endurance expedition ship. Jotunn missions emphasize exploration and endurance; Tartarus deep-space missions are favored when intelligence indicates serious danger may be present.
Relative Size: The Tartarus is one of the largest KAVOE vessels, but the Argonaut remains larger. Tartarus volume is optimized for aerospace operations; Argonaut volume is optimized for strategic troop and equipment lift.
