Confirmed Core Doctrine

No Direct-Entry Officer Candidates

Every person seeking a KAVOE commission must first enlist in KAVOE.

No Cadet Category

KOTA trainees are already enlisted KAVOE personnel. The term “cadet” is not used for them.

Minimum Rank to Apply: Nike Specialist (E-4)

Nike Specialist is the enlisted rank immediately preceding Lancer.

Minimum Rank While Training: Lancer (E-5)

No person attends KOTA below Lancer rank.

Application Method: Zeckle Pad

KOTA applications are submitted through official KAVOE forms accessed and completed through a Zeckle pad.

Enlisted-to-Officer Progression

KOTA is an enlisted-to-commissioned pathway. Officer applicants are drawn from personnel who have already entered KAVOE service and progressed far enough to demonstrate professional development.

Application Framework

A Nike Specialist who wishes to pursue a commission begins the KOTA process through a Zeckle pad. The pad provides the official KOTA application forms and serves as the applicant-facing interface for submission.

 • • Applicant must already be serving in KAVOE.
 • • Applicant must have reached at least Nike Specialist (E-4).
 • • Application is made through official Zeckle pad forms.
 • • An individual below Lancer (E-5) cannot begin KOTA training.

Rank Status & Institutional Principle

KOTA does not create a separate cadet rank. Its trainees remain members of the enlisted KAVOE rank structure while undergoing officer training. The minimum KOTA training rank is Lancer (E-5). This preserves the principle that every future KAVOE officer has first crossed the institutional threshold into the Lancer/NCO corps.

KOTA is not a civilian-to-military accession school. It is an internal KAVOE officer-development institution. Its officer corps is therefore built entirely from personnel who have first experienced KAVOE from the enlisted ranks.

Training Duration & Admission Standards

The complete KOTA training process takes approximately one Earth year. This is the working standard for the full officer-training sequence from entry into KOTA training through completion of the academy process.

Admission is not based solely on rank. Reaching Nike Specialist (E-4) establishes eligibility to apply, but the applicant must also satisfy KOTA qualification and selection standards. Continuity rule: no applicant may bypass enlisted service. An E-4 applicant may apply, but no individual begins KOTA training below Lancer (E-5).

ORG Level Completion

The exact required ORG level and detailed ORG framework remain to be developed.

PAT (Physical Assessment Test) Qualification

Applicants must meet KOTA physical fitness standards. The test events, scoring system, minimum score, retesting rules, and other details remain to be developed.

Social and Psychological Development Profile

KOTA evaluates whether the applicant demonstrates the social maturity and psychological development expected of a future officer. Exact measures and thresholds remain to be developed.

Other Admission Standards

KOTA uses additional selection criteria beyond rank, ORG completion, PAT qualification, and the social/psychological development profile. These will be added as the academy doctrine develops.
